EquiFriends - a caring board of prominent local leaders
Marlynn McLaughlin, Board Member
After retiring from a career in law enforcement, I decided that I wanted to do some kind of volunteer work with animals or the environment. When I learned about EquiFriends, I knew I wanted to work here. I started when EquiFriends was still at Warren Wood Farms in 1996. I immediately fell in love with three of the horses, Sur, Jodee, and Ebony. I also loved working with the students in classes as a side-walker or leader.
Eventually I began helping with other activities such as the slicker-nicker ride-a-thon, the EquiFriends Horse Show, the auction, and the Giving Tree Project. I believe in the program’s goals and am dedicated to seeing it continue.
I became a horse owner in 2001 for the first time. I own a 20-year old Tennessee Walker mare named Mandy. I am also a member of the John Wayne Pioneer Wagons and Riders, the Terrace-Brier Lions club, Mustangs Northwest Car Club (I also own a 1987 Mustang GT) and the Tour de Terrace Festival committee in Mountlake Terrace, where I put on a car show every summer.
