Horses are now a big part of Carter's life
Carter started Equifriends when he was two-years-old. At the time Carter wasn’t walking independently and wasn’t talking. After the first session, Carter began walking on his own and gained the confidence to begin to communicate. When he took a break from Equifriends, he stopped walking. It was at that time we knew Equifriends would be a big part of his life.
Carter is five-years-old, walking independently and making small conversations. It helps that Equifriends works with Carter by adjusting our schedules with therapists and other riders. Routine in Carter’s life is very important and Equifriends is very understanding of his needs. Riding the horses helps Carter’s leg muscles to continue his stability when he walks and runs. The games and interaction with the other children and therapists help Carter learn how to interact with people and help him learn how to communicate his feelings.
